Attention, class... I'm Mrs. Ross, your sub.

Kate at The Big Piece of Cake invited me to guest post for her this week while she takes a blog break.  I was initially uncomfortable with the request because I'm not a fan of guest posts. [I may have just committed blog suicide by confessing that.  What else is new?]  I'm a loyal reader of my favorite bloggers so I'm disappointed to see someone else writing on their behalf.  Like having a substitute teacher when you're not expecting it.  I sigh, then I read the post [usually sometimes] and try to leave a supportive comment.  I have to admit I've found a few new blogs to follow via guest posts.

I worked through my issues and thanked Kate for even considering me to write something for her loyal readers.  I was and am truly flattered.  She has three young children, a husband, works full-time outside the home, and produces A LOT of quality blog material.  It's a miracle if I manage to grunt and groan and moan and think and type - and push a post every few days.

You can see my guest post on Kate's blog by clicking here.  I was going to post it on my blog too, until I realized if I still had a "blog pulse" left from confessing I don't like guest bloggers, a double-post would pretty much do me in.  [Blog suicide - complete.]  Nevertheless, go read Kate.  I might be revived that way.  I see the light...

I've never had any guest posts on my own blog (yet - but then I've only been going a few months!) but I usually enjoy reading them on others'. In general, I find that if I enjoy reading a particular blog then the guest posts are usually also by people I'd enjoy reading. I've found interesting new blogs that way in the past.

I usually enjoy reading guest posts. And Chris - you could never commit blog suicide for me... I'm a loyal fan!

I love reading guest posts on my favorite blogs, because they inevitably steer me toward new blogs to love (like yours!).

The only people that guest post on my blog are my kids. And I think I might get my wine rack to do one...he has some interesting things to say.

I loved it! I'm 52 and have earned every single wrinkle and gray hair! I love my 50's... who would have thunk i?

Well, I just learned about a new blog that I can read and not have time to comment on and continue comitting my OWN blog suicide so I hear what you're saying!

I'm going to head over later (meaning someday) and read your guest post.

I will!

Have a great day!

I feel the same way about guest posting... but I have a hard time saying no. Plus, it is an honor to be asked, and really nice to reach out to a new group of people.

I liked your post. Honest and interesting.

I've never had a guest post on my blog but then again I have a blog that is not too mainstream in terms of mommy blogs.

I'm terrible at finding new blogs so it's a good thing that Kate has guest posts otherwise I would have never found YOU!

:)

I know what you mean about guest posts. I'm always a little disappointed when the "sub" is there. But I bet you're a great sub over there.

There's nothing wrong with guest posts on occasion. When I was stuck in the hospital and then nursing home for three weeks, it seemed like the only answer.

Of course, for short trips, like the one to Death Valley, I'm trying to write in advance. I still may have to bring someone else in. Not sure yet. Wanna do it for me? :D

Guest posts? Blech. I don't like them either. There. I said it. Now we're both unpopular.

Nevertheless, I went over to read the one you wrote, because it was you. And I once did one for Deb at San Diego Momma because it was Deb. And my husband once did one for me because I was forced to go camping with my Brownie troop during NaBloPoMo. But typically, I think if a blogger is taking a break, just take the break. That's just me, though.

I did a guest post once, and I think I did more harm than good. It's tricky . . .
